1. No, but I saw them

I went to the State Dinner last night and saw them in passing.

Let me say up front that I do not support them.

I don't think their mission worked because of the new venue. The valet parking at the Renaissance is on the side of the building so everyone attending went in the side door and missed the group out front. (Had the Dinner been at the Hyatt like in previous years, people would have had to walk by them.)

Also, they were late. The Dinner officially started at 7:00, but the receptions started at 4:00-ish. I don't think the protesters arrived until 5:30 after most people were there.

There was extra security and no one without a ticket could enter. None of the protesters made a delivery.

Finally, one of the organizers is well-known in Columbus for harassing Dem. supports. Anything involving him is ignored. No one is sure if he is a paid disruptor by the Republicans or just mentally ill. Either way, as long as he is a part of a protest, they won't get a word with the Party which is a shame for the protesters who just wanted to be heard.

3. It was actually pretty sad
I felt really bad for the people protesting that didn't know the inside scoop. I felt like they were being betrayed by the leaders. For instance, either ODP or Mayor Coleman (can't remember who) invited one of their organizers to have a meeting Fri. She never showed. There were a couple people in charge that only wanted to see their name in the paper. :(

The funny part was the Keynote Speaker Pennsylvania Gov. Edward Rendell talked about the fact that Dems. need to be brave. If we're going to lose we need to lose because we stood our ground. For example, every Congressman that was against the Terri Shiavo Bill should have stood up against it. I think the protesters would have been inspired and probably would have been allowed inside if not for their leaders.

4. Lots of misinformation being posted
They communicated with Rendell before the event. Check out Rendell's remarks. Seems to have been very effective action.

5. Nice piece of fiction
That's not the real story. The cardboard spine wasn't delivered. Heck, that article even has the event in the wrong city. The State Dinner was in Columbus, not Cleveland.

With all the horrible things happening in our country, I will never understand why so-called Democrats would protest their own party. Considering their leader was a no-show when she had an opportunity to speak to Party officials, it's pretty clear the only thing she was effective in doing was getting her name in the paper. Pathetic.

6. biased misinformation
is likely to come from those that admit they were inside the hall. They were the ones being complained about so no doubt will deny reality. The Ohio Democratic Party is complicit in alot of the failures in the 2004 election. They have not helped investigate what happened but rather hindered. They also helped destroy election reform in Ohio too. Other than the city slip-up the article seems to comport with what happened.

I suppose those that went inside the hall will also say that this article is all bogus too and attack whoever disagrees -- one of the great failures of the Ohio Democratic Party whose hacks were inside the hall apparently:

http://www.clevescene.com/issues/2005-04-13/news/news.html

If the Democratic Party does not get rid of spineless, ineffective, deaf bureaucrats who populate the Ohio Democratic Party we will lose again. That is why so many people care about reforming the Ohio Democratic Party. Remaining silent about the spineless and ineffective Ohio Democratic Party without trying to do something well before election time (the Republicans are organizing this very moment while we do nothing) is what is pathetic.

Defending the Ohio Democratic Party with personal attacks and characterisations against those who are only trying to get it to be effective is worse than pathetic.

7. Wow! You said it so well!
Where are the Dems? Where is Howard Dean? I keep hearing how hard they are working. There has been so much outrage! So many reasons to impeach this President, but then I hear the media is bias, they don't let the Dems on T.V. All I know is they are not fighting!

10. Thanks for the Welcome. Check out NYTimes
Even the NYTimes has the Noe story. Where is the Dem Party? Why are only individual Dems speaking out? We need to win Ohio. Dean needs to visit Ohio and speak up, not sneak in like he did 2 weeks ago without publicity. Where are the Dems?

http://www.ohiohonestelections.org/ check out the NYTimes story
