Mazel Tov, Frank. Hope you don't fuck up as bad as Jane did. Not that I'm optimistic...

1. You are going to see a four year war between the gov't and the developers
Mayor-elect Jackson opposed all that corporate-welfare in the form of Gateway, Rock Hall, etc., ad nauseum. Is he really going to cut the lifeline of cash flowing from Ohio taxpayers to Cleveland's most noted power brokers? There's a shoreway relocation coming and $87 million of public money to move streets & bust up some old buildings on Old River Road. How are the millionaires to survive without that lifeline of money?

2. It's going to be interesting, that's for sure!
I'm just a little freaked, since I remember the last time a Mayoral administration was a battle-royale between the Mayor's office and the corporate sector. I just hope Jackson is cut from stronger timber than Dennis was at 30, and he can pull it off better. I have doubts.

And BTW - Sam Miller endorsed Jackson, so I wouldn't expect the spigot to close off THAT significantly.

And also BTW, I'm sorry I had to miss the meetup! From E.P.'s pics, it looked like a really nice time. :hi:

3. I did not realize that about Miller
There is more to Cle politics than I know.

Yeah, too bad you missed the meetup. It was a lot of fun and the food was excellent! I have a corporate story that is the sort of stuff Free Times likes to run, and was dying to tell you about it.

5. It's actually kinda ho-hum.
Council president just beat a truly lousy one-term mayor, and may not be much of an improvement. Though he has taken some worthy stands in the recent past, that's no guarantee of him actually getting his way, and most of 'em are done deals now anyway.

6. Thanks, asthmatic,
my home town is Youngstown (although I live in Dayton now) and it sounds kinda familiar.
