Lewis Katz, Democratic candidate for Congress in the 14th
Congressional District, will be appearing at two Town Hall
Meetings. The public is invited to meet the candidate and discuss
issues vital to the community and to the country.
The meetings will be at:
- 7 p.m. , Tuesday, November 29th at Mentor Beach Park
Pavilion, 7779 Lake Shore Boulevard, Mentor .
- 7 p.m. , Tuesday, December 6th at, R.B. Chamberlin Middle
School, 10270 Ravenna Road, Twinsburg.
An internationally known and respected professor of law at Case
Western Reserve University for the past 40 years, Katz, 66, decided
to run for Congress as the American death toll in Iraq mounted.
"Our troops, who are risking their lives, need to be supported," he
said. "Unfortunately, the administration is not providing ample
protection and resources. We cannot afford another American life
lost."
"I am running for Congress because I am concerned about what is
happening in Ohio and Washington. It is important that people of
good will, Democrats, Republicans and Independents, come together to
fix our nation. Our country is built upon ideals that inspire people
all over the world. It is time to return to those ideals and assure
opportunities for all Americans."
Save Our Troops
Katz is calling for a structured pullout from Iraq . He is urging
our country to work with the United Nations and with countries in
the region to provide troops to take the place of Americans in
combat.
Save Ohio's Jobs
End free trade without fair trade. Keep Ohio jobs in Ohio. Create
programs to put Americans back to work. End irresponsible government
spending.
Save Social Security
Katz is fighting against the privatization of Social Security to
ensure that all Americans live with dignity and independence after
they retire.
Save the Children
Katz says Leave No Child Left Behind needs to be fully funded or
repealed. Katz says that all children are entitled to a quality
education. Teachers need to be freed to teach our children more
than just how to pass standardized tests.
Save Our Future
With wars being fought over oil and soaring prices at the gas pumps,
Katz says the only way to save the planet and our pocketbooks is by
directing a national effort at securing affordable, clean and safe
alternative energy resources. "It is imperative," he said, "that
America achieves energy independence within 10 years, which can be
done through an initiative similar to President Kennedy's Man on
the Moon project. Together, we must rise to this challenge."
Save Our Bill of Rights
Katz, a legal expert on individual rights, says America can be safe
and strong without weakening our constitutional rights.
