My best friend is threatening a move to Canada...HELP!
I know this isn't a singles site. I thought I would try once and if the message gets deleted, well I tried.

My friend is single. She's been dating, but hasn't found anyone yet. After the mock-election she is now considering a move to Canada. If you are looking for a mate, or have a friend looking for a mate let me know.

My friend is wonderful. She is bright, well educated, fun, nice. She is active. Non-smoker. Fit. Self-employed. Just turned 38. No kids. Never been married. Ummm. Very warm. Open. Very democratic.

Anyway, there is a lot more I could say, but I fear I am really wasting my time. Thanks for reading.

2. Your best friend is not alone......
I just received word from my husband that the NIH will be cut drastically, which means a "dismal funding outlook for NIH and NSF in the years to come". Without funding, he cannot work. But let's take cheer from our fearless "leader"s words during the campaign. He can just go to community college and be trained for another career, since his PhD in Biochemistry and 18 years experience in the field are obviously not sufficient for a career in science in America. Nor valued. We will most likely be making that move to Canada. At least they value science there, and fund it.

9. I know - thank you, but I'd like her to stay here and be happy if possible
I agree there are great things about Canada and I do already know people that live there. I would never impose my own selfish wishes on my friend, but it wouldn't be selfish is some nice dem. popped up and she was interested enough to stick around.

Also, I feel like we shouldn't abandon the US just yet. I've thought about moving myself, but the hope of things getting better makes me want to stay and fight it out.

5. Let your friend go
sounds like she is smart. I wish I could go and would in a minute if I could pass their immigration requirements.

Look at it this way - you will have a contact in a better country than this place.

11. Not pass their requirements?
How do you not pass their requirements? Either you aren't trying, or you have some serious baggage.

14. It takes money, job skills, and/or
some bilingual skills. Perhaps the poster is lacking some of these. How judgemental was that post? Geez.

7. Maybe try posting this in the Canada forum?
I'd be careful, tho, cos sometimes people aren't what they say they are on the web.

10. No, I don't think I'd post this in the Canada forum.
Thanks, but I'd like to try here first. Yes, people on the net are not all what they seem.

12. She should go...
the sooner the better. Sometimes a change is good. If she's stagnating here and would have a better outlook somewhere else, she'd be a fool not to go. Wish her luck and send her on her way.
