Anyone here in or near Tigard, Oregon?
Hi,
I'd like to fly to Oregon this year to take an class with an artist in the area. His studio is in Tigard and we'd stay at a hotel there too. Could anyone tell me if I should fly into Portland or a different airport?

Also any info you'd like to share on Tigard and Portland I'd love to hear!

Thanks!
Bliss:)

1. You need to fly to Portland
My mom lives in Tigard, and I live about 6 miles from it.
It is nice.
If you like beer, Portland has a ton of micro breweries.
Hope you enjoy it!

you can take the light rail to the Beaverton Transit center, which is pretty close to tigard- or you can rent a car at the airport.

5. it's easier to go through SW portland from downtown.
I used to commute from Tigard to Tanasbourne, and the north-south public transit routes are really bad on the Westside.

4. I live about a mile from Tigard.
It's about 20 minutes from PDX.

30 if you take the MAX to downtown & then the number 12 bus.

And while you're there, make sure you eat at Sanchez Taqueria. homemade tortillas. mmmmmm.

7. Thank you ALL--
for the recommendations. We will definitely fly into Portland.

Is Tigard pretty liberal? What about Portland?

:)

8. Portland is liberal
Tigard is part of Washington County.
We are a swing County. I am the Chair of the Democratic Party here.
We voted for Kerry. You will be fine.

10. Very cool, lupita! Thank you--I'm honored to meet you!
Well sort of meet you, on an internet board anyway. lol.
:hi:

On another board that I used to frequent, there was this totally obnoxious guy. Seriously, he terrorized the entire board with his conservative, freeper, right wing religious talk. He was from Portland and made it sound like he and his kind were the majority of the area. Remembering him, made me a little nervous about coming up there...sorry.

In fact, it was him and his ravings that brought me to DU! LOL! He came here and tried to spew his insanity and of course was banned, hahahaha!

Anyway, I should have known he was full of it--about Portland I mean. Plus that, I'm traveling to the area for an art class. I'm sure it's possible, but I haven't known of many artists to settle into areas that may be disparaging of them or their work. He does nudes, not something conservatives are going to be jumping for joy about. :D

Thank you again for sharing information with me, I really appreciate it!

14. Portland
We're actually quite friendly here. Poppy Bush did refer to Portland as "Little Beirut." Coming from him, I take that as a compliment.
