Local, live Thom Hartman on KPOJ!
I'm loving a local morning show. This is great. Thom Hartman is live and local from 6-9am PST. He mentioned he put roots down in Oregon and here he is. It's great to wake up and listen to what is going on here locally, instead of tape delay Morning Sedition.

4. Impressive on the guests this morning!
I missed a lot, but heard Brian Baird and
Governor K.

This is wonderful.

5. I get the idea that he moved here for this gig
On the one hand, I'm glad he's here. It'll be nice to have a high-quality morning show that can focus on state and local issues. On the other, I'm kind of disappointed that they had to relocate someone from across the country instead of finding local talent to fill the slot. You can't tell me, in all seriousness, that there was no one in Portland right now who could have done it. Oh well, I'm still holding out hope for a localized weekend format instead of the "Weekday Recycled" thing.

On the third hand, this really shows how KPOJ's influence is growing. That the station was ready to have its own host at all, instead of just pulling other shows over the affiliate wire, speaks volumes about the kind of success they're having. I doubt Thom Hartman would have relocated if he wasn't confident of the station's stability.

6. Sheila Hamilton (late of the early days of KPAM)
was in the running for the job.

I used to call/email her in those days, and she still
had my email address. She sent me an email asking me to
put in a good word for her with KPOJ, which I did.

Didn't do much good though.

The only reason why I remember her is her last show
before they brought in Hannity was a Bush-bashing doozy.
One of the best she'd ever done.

12. Thank you for bringing up Sheila!
For months I've been trying to think of her name--talk about a classic brain freeze! I used to enjoy her program, it was one of the reasons I listened to KPAM. Have missed her! Maybe a weekend gig would work for her on KPOJ. I do like Hartman--have the problem of getting the streaming audio on a consistent basis, though. Have been wishing the station would bump up the signal so we'd get better reception over here in Central Oregon.

If you wouldn't mind sharing Sheila's email, I'd love to drop her a line.

9. Hey, 0rganism
:hi:

I agree with you about KPOJ not hiring a local radio person, and especially about repeated shows.

Jeez, just some of us Portland DUers could put on a weekend show that would KICK ASS.

But all in all, Hartmann was a good catch.

7. Yes, this is so cool!
I really liked Hartman when he stood in for Randi Rhodes, so I'm excited to have him in PDX.

10. I'm not liking the streaming radio....
at KOPJ. I've been trying to listen to Thom Hartman via computer (as I cannot access him via radio from the coast) and the streaming radio program keeps stalling. It's very frustrating!!

Other than that, I'm happy that Thom Hartman is here. :-)
