Cougars & gun happy cops
There is s story of a cougar running loose near Troutdale.

The thing is the cops there insist they must shoot it and kill it versus tranquilizing it and relocating the cougar.

I find this bogus, there are plenty of examples where cougars have
been shot with tranquilizers and relocated.

While the cougar population does seem to be increasing (we're seeing them on the coast) I see this as no reason to just go in and hunt them
down versus relocating them.

1. Not sure where I heard this, but ---
they said the cougar had become too bold with human beings and therefore couldn't be relocated.

I've never seen a cougar here in Beaverton, but there have been several deer sightings in the greenway in back of our home.

2. Drought problem, I think
I remember this happened in Missoula, about ten years ago. It was just because of a couple of bad drought years, and the cougars coming down into the suburbs. I could be wrong, but I don't think they were shot. I'll try to google it and see. It'll probably correct itself in time, no need to shoot them.

Did I tell you guys about the night my daughter called me at 11:30??

MOM, there's a bear in my front yard!! What do I do?

Well how the hell do I know?? Don't go outside.

We live smack in the middle of Florence, near A&W, for those who've been here.

A BEAR!!

It has to be drought problems, nothing else makes sense. Hate to say it, but we need an El Nino or La Nina, whichever one brings rain.
