All I know is that Jeff Merkley is a bad, bad man who should be ashamed
Gordo has run the ugliest smear campaign in the nation. I haven't heard anything about his ideas to help out us Oregonians but a lot about how evil Jeff Merkley is and how much he likes to eat cake.

I've been waiting to vote against Gordon Smith since the day I turned 18.

1. I too can not wait to vote against Gordon Smith!!!
What a weasle. His campaign is mean to the core, and just a festival of lies.
I've got a Merkely lawnsign, I'm dialing those phones, and I can not wait to see Smith out of the Senate!

2. Well, judging by the sheer volume of attack
ads being put up by Gordo and the RNC, they must realize that they're in danger of losing this seat. I for one can't wait to get rid of that putz.

3. It's high time
for Gordon to discover that you cannot consistently speak a moderate line and then vote as if BushCo's hand is up your pucker.

11. Right on! Oregonians aren't as dumb as the repukes in Washington think.
Personally, I think we could have taken him out in 2002 if the DNC had gotten behind us then.

4. ...and it gets worse by the day
I don't think I've ever seen as many smear ads. I can't imagine that they work, or it would ruin my estimation of the basic character of the state if they did; half-truths, innuendo, smear, probable lies, almost certain lies - all followed by "I'm Gordon Smith, and I approve this message".

I have to say I know little about Merkley and not much more about Smith, but anyone who needs to spend millions on obnoxious smear to try to keep his job certainly doesn't deserve it. Every time I hear that "I'm Gordon Smith" thing it seems like the proper rest of it should be "and I'm a real bastard who'd say anything to stay in Washington".

5. The negative tone of the campaign is really sickening.
Gordo seems to bank on his "honest face" but what he doesn't seem to realize is that we have been watching the administration and the congress hand our government over to big corporate interests lock, stock and barrel. And he has been a part of it.

And we are pissed!

6. Wish I could have gotten clearance to move to Portland a few weeks earlier. You'd get one more vote

... against that idiot.

Oh well, I'll still help out California get the right props voted in here instead...

But damn, even though Ahnold is no saint either, Smith insulting us by saying we would be INSANE enough to vote Sarah Palin in as our governor here in California was a damn INSULT that almost has me motivated to still try and vote there instead, though it would be a pain to get a lease by Tuesday and risk not getting my ballot there.

8. I turned in my ballot today, with my vote for Jeff Merkley of course!
Just volunteered to do some phone calling for him on Sat. Can hardly wait to see Gordon Smith take a long hike to nowhere!

12. Instead of voting *against* Smith....
...I plan on voting *for* Merkley; wow, concept. Anyways, sadly, the guy I really wanted to win (Steve Novick) lost, so Merkley gets the nod since there's no Green Party candidate.

13. The Faux news political pundit
on Good Day Oregon said that Merkley is up because his "negative" campaigning against Gordo is taking its toll.

That's just bullshit in a media campaign when, for every one so-called negative ad from the Merkley camps, there are 10 filthy mudslinging ads from the Gordo camps.

Merkley is up because Wyden AND Obama have come out in support of him. Although I don't doubt that the DSC's commerical about Smith's use of illegal immigrants has cause some folks to open a deaf ear.

14. Yep. Saying Gordo votes with Bush 90% of the time is pretty negative.

I'd be horrified if anyone said that about me.
