Fall Colors in Oregon ... WOW !
I have been here over 3 years now, and this year is definitely the most spectacular I have seen yet ...

BRILLIANT Yellows, Oranges and Reds everywhere ....

It must have been due to the temperature cycle this year .... We have had a couple of early cold evenings, which then warmed to nice days .... That's what I am thinking ....

Just amazing .... I wish I had a camera ....

I found these online:

Yeah ... Just like that ....

OK ... back to the campaign war room (I.E. GD:P)

1. That top one doesn't look like Oregon to me. No fir trees - all deciduous.
Where was it taken?

2. It just popped up when I searched images in google ....
for 'Oregon Fall Colors 2008'

It may not be Oregon, but it looks EXACTLY like the colors I am seeing all around the Portland area ... All those pics have the same vibe as I see around me ...

Really spectacular colors ... I am awestruck ....

3. Yes. It is a striking fall.
Unfortunately, I've been busy and haven't gotten out hiking as much as usual. Thanks for the pix.

5. The nice October weather helped!
Hi Trajan! I agree the colors this year are spectacular. I think the nice weather (mildest October I can remember and I've lived here, more or less, since 1969)helped keep the leaves on the trees. Right across the street are two large sweet gums that are brilliant orangy red, when the sun sets the rays strike them directly and they glow almost supernaturally! Down the street are two huge Japenese maples that are turning brilliant orange...What's weird, though, is the birches have lost almost all their leaves...usually they're among the last trees to lose their leaves.

What's sad, though, is my landlady wants to cut down three large cedar trees next to our building, including one directly in front of my window. Her father planted them when he built this building in 1960, now they're over 30 feet tall but only about two feet from the building, plus they're infested with bark beetles and a lot of needles are brown. It's a shame, I like the trees and I enjoy the big fat squirrels running up and down the trunk. Oftentimes they'll stop and just look at me through the window as I look at them, we're only about four feet away from each other...

PS finally got leads on two part time jobs that would at least tide me through January. Wish me luck!
