Baby Injured During At-Home Circumcision
http://www.kptv.com/news/25508096/detail.html

<snip> (ouch!)

PORTLAND, Ore. -- A 3-month-old child was taken to a hospital in critical condition after his mother attempted to circumcise him, police said.

Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson said officers arrived at a home at Northeast 127th Avenue and Burnside Street at about 2 a.m. Sunday to assist medics after a call of an injured child.

Police said they learned the mother had attempted to perform a medical procedure on the infant.

The child was taken to a hospital, Simpson said, and is expected to survive.

Detectives from the police bureau’s child abuse team and state officials are investigating.

No arrests have been made at this point, Simpson said.

4. Meth or Messiah

Maybe they could get John Bobbitt's surgeon right quick.

3. How sick. Let me guess, the mother wanted to save a few bucks
with a DIY home circumcision? I would like to hear her excuse.

6. I want to know if pinking shears came into play. But in all seriousness
don't people of the Jewish faith have Rabi's that do in home circumcisions? Also remember law's can not interfere with religious rituals and in some cases death is not enough for government to step in, the crazies that play with rattle snakes as proof they are chosen come to mind.

11. Those Rabbis are trained by other Rabbis before they ever do one.

And they don't do them by themselves at 2 a.m.

13. Rabbis also do not wait three months.
Traditionally, it is done 8 days after the child is born.

9. There are several things that merit the phrase "Don't try this at home"
Surgery is one of them.

That's why we have professionals called doctors.

14. Un-freakin' believable!
I hope that poor baby is okay and that his mother never lays a hand on him again. Clearly, she needs help, which should involve a tubal ligation. Just my opinion...
