Condoleezza Rice in Portland
Just came across this...

<http://www.pdx.edu/giving/keynote-speaker>

About the Event
Portland State is pleased to honor the Melvin Mark and William Furman Families at its twelfth annual Simon Benson Awards Dinner, October 19, 2011. The event will take place at the Oregon Convention Center's Portland Ballroom, and will feature a compelling keynote address by former secretary of state, Dr. Condoleezza Rice.

Named after one of Oregon's first philanthropists, the Simon Benson Award was created in 1999 to honor the state's contemporary pioneers of philanthropy. Recipients are tireless community leaders who give generously of time and resources and whose legacies affect the lives of generations of Oregonians, past, present, and future.
In 2010, the Simon Benson Awards Dinner raised $285,000 for the Fund for PSU, which supports students, faculty and programs campus-wide.

4. I'd like to... My dad also had Josef Korbel as his faculty advisor at U. of Denver...

Dr. Korbel of course is Madeleine Albright's father who was the head of the International Studies program there.

Condi Rice has Dr. Korbel to thank to get her where she is now instead of what she would have been as a music major, which he talked her out of.

I still remember being bothered by the interview that Laura Flanders on GRITtv had with a filmmaker who made a documentary of Condi Rice that I saw on my DVR when I got back in to town that was aired the same day when I was out of town on Pearl Harbor day when my dad passed away a couple of years ago. Reminded me of how much Dr. Korbel meant to my father's career too.

5. Dr. Condoleezza Rice?
The former national security adviser who allowed the worst attack on U.S. soil
and got a promotion out of the deal?

That Dr. Condoleeza Rice?

Might just have to pay her a visit and tell her what I think of her.

7. That's right! She did lie our country into a war -
a bloody unnecessary and foolish war that only benefited her buddies.

I'd almost forgotten about that.
