Why is the Oregon board so moribund?
I've been around here, off and on, for more than a few years. (originally under a different handle, Uncle Sinister, some of the old-timers might remember)

This used to be a fairly active board. There were usually at least 5 new posts a day, way more in politi-season.

I went to a few PDX DU meet-ups at the Lucky Lab that were hella fun.

I know there's still plenty of fellow Oregonians on DU, but we don't talk to each other much, it seems.

I would love if the Oregon board got more lively again. There is region-specific info about events, elections, etc that we all could learn from.

And I propose a meet-up. When was the last one? I know one was proposed a way back, and I (along with most) had to bail on it.

Come on peeps! A few pints with local DU'ers. Lucky Lab, anyone?

1. I check in often, but rarely post.
Most of any action is going on west of the Cascades; since I'm east of the mountains, that lets me out.

I don't have much to say about local elections; the outcome is often determined before I get my ballot.

I like to read about what's going on in the more active part of the state, though.

2. I'm also interested in the east side, my evil cousin (Greg Walden) has considered it...
his personal kingdom for WAY too long. (and I apologize for being related to that fucktard).

3. You apologized once before, lol.
I forgive. Really!

I support who ever runs against him every time, knowing the odds are not in my favor.

There are Democrats and liberals here, especially in Bend. Even another DUer or two. The further out you go, though, the crazier it gets.

It's obvious why his district is so large, geographically. I traveled to Idaho for 3 days last week. Leaving Bend, there are miles of empty, barren land, then Brothers, a little blip in the road, then more empty miles, past the blm mustang facility, then Burns, then...nothing. A couple of ranches in the canyon after the pass, and finally Ontario right at the border.

It's empty out there.
