Family sues Senator Regola, wife and son

The family of a teenager, who died more than two years ago from a gunshot wound to the head from a state lawmaker's gun, today filed a wrongful death lawsuit against state Sen. Robert Regola, his wife and now - adult son.

In the 13-page document filed this afternoon, the Regolas are accused of improperly storing a 9 mm Taurus semiautomatic handgun, inadequately supervising children who around the weapon and failing to notify police and the parents of the dead boy that the gun was missing .

In July 2006 the body of 14-year-old Louis Farrell was found in the woods behind his home , next to Regola's handgun. In the lawsuit, Farrell family attorney Jon Perry said the gun was brought into the woods when 16-year-old Robert "Bobby" Regola IV met Louis Farrell outside to smoke a cigar shortly shortly after 11 p.m. on July 21, 2006.
