High Schoolers Accused Of Sending Naked Pictures To Each Other
Source: WXPI.com

GREENSBURG, Pa. -- Three teenage girls who allegedly sent nude or semi-nude cell phone pictures of themselves, and three male classmates in a Greensburg Salem High School who received them, are charged with child pornography.

Police said the girls are 14 or 15, and the boys charged with receiving the photos are 16 or 17. None are being identified because most criminal cases in Pennsylvania juvenile courts are not public.

Police said the girls are being charged with manufacturing, disseminating or possessing child pornography while the boys face charges of possession.

1. What's up with young teen girls these days?
I honestly don't think you should have a cell phone until your 18. Maybe one of those firefly ones though for emergencies. .

4. one w/o a camera, anyway
I think cell phone companies could make a killing going back to "just a phone" (ok, w/ a GPS). I'm glad kids can reach their parents in an emergency, or can call to say where they're going and who they'll be with, but the digital image thing is just disturbing.

And that whole text message thing... I don't get it.

6. "semi-nude" counts? Most bikinis qualify for "semi-nude".

9. OK, now this is just getting ridiculous
I probably shouldn't say this because it could and very well may be misconstrued in this new age of the Scarlet Letter but here goes anyway -- THE PICTURES OF MINORS WERE PICTURES OF THEMSELVES. THEY WERE SENT TO OTHER MINORS BY MINORS.

This is the type of juvenile behavior that used to be handled through the school, the students, and the parents involved. Not through the criminal justice system.

With a president and vice-president in full violation of myriad laws, who have also admitted personally to war crimes, it is mind boggling to me that such emphasis should be put on minors sending photos of themselves, in whatever state of dress or undress. But I am not surprised since this government and this nation has, and likely would again, been more than willing to impeach a successful president on ridiculous charges based on consensual sex even as it refuses to enforce the law against admitted criminals, as mentioned above.

Sex is the ultimate crime in this screwed up, wacky, puritanical, Christian taliban nation of ours. I am not condoning sex with children but this is sexual behavior BETWEEN children and, while it uses technology not available when I was a teenager, it is totally natural for teenagers to explore their sexuality with members of their own age group. But these teens will now be criminalized, castigated, and probably so repressed that they will become sex offenders.

BTW, Greenesburg is my hometown. :)

(The name has been misspelled forever. Greenesburg is named after General Nathaniel Greene -- with three e's, not the color.)

12. I agree with you on the charges
But Greensburg itself spells it without the third "e". http://www.city.greensburg.pa.us/

Your post is the first time this 56 year McKeesport resident has seen it spelled with a third "e".

18. Hi McKeesport. I read about the misspelling in the Greensburg Gazette
if I remember the name of the newspaper correctly. It was in the 1950's when I was a child living there. I think the Gazette is gone now.

I found one reference to the misspelling at this link:
http://books.google.com/books?id=mzwodaKxQmgC&pg=PA213&lpg=PA213&dq=greensburg+pa+general+nathaniel+greene+misspelled&source=web&ots=tmB6HnU7tA&sig=vn0ZoR4NXBOZSOHHAp3EVS9jk8Q&hl=en&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=1&ct=result

I guess you're right about the spelling since the misspelling has been accepted but technically I think it should be Greenesburg or the town is named for the color, not the general. :)

19. I don't doubt you - kinda like how Pittsburgh went back and forth
with an "h" without an "h" with an "h". Probably got misspelled so much at some point someone just decided oh to heck with it and dropped the third "e".

17. There was a Douglas Adams book...
I think it was "So long, and thanks for all the fish," where a man had built a mental hospital, but the Asylum was outside. That is how I am starting to feel these days. When I walk out my door to the outside world I am entering a crazy house. In here, sanity - out there, the absurd.

11. They need a different law to address this.
Horny teenagers doing this with each other is not child pornography. Not saying that they should be doing it, they shouldn't, but there really is no law to address it except something as draconian as a child porn charge. This is NOT what that is. Now if adults were involved . . . well . . .different story.

13. Yep. If they were posting it on the net, where anybody and everybody
could access it, it might be different, but this is just kids doing "i'll show you mine if you show me yours" - and THAT'S been going on for centuries.

15. what they need is parents to take some fucking responsibility for teaching
and/or appropriately disciplining their kids. This is NOT a legal matter, it is a parent-child-possibly school behavioral issue.

21. They Need *Parents* To Address This
Edited on Wed Jan-14-09 06:02 PM by Crisco
If I had a quarter for everytime I've heard a woman in my age group or higher, over the past 15 years, say "I can't believe how aggressive these girls are," when speaking of the young women chasing after their sons ...

Most parents are as *overwhelmed* on sexual matters since the Glorious Revolution. Add to that, anyone who was born between the late '50s and early '70s were getting their heads filled up with all the "good girls don't" propaganda at the same time their older sisters were having a marvelous time. It was bewildering.

16. Girls should be charge for exposing them selves in public
I don't see any reason to charge the boys with possession if they are only the spectators.

20. I also don't see why the boys are charged
Without knowing if they solicited the girls' photos, how do they know that these horny girls were not foisting nude photos of themselves on unwilling boys?

For that matter, every boy in the school could have photos of those three girls in their cell phones. They only know these three boys had them because they confiscated their phones after seeing them use them in school. The girls could have been promoting themselves as prostitutes and sent their photos out to hundreds of unsuspecting boys--or girls.
