A REAL Progressive is running for PA Democratic Party Chair -- please read this & support him!

I know Chuck Pascal personally; he is a true progressive and a hero of election integrity who represented our Westmoreland County citizens in the first-ever lawsuit in Pennsylvania filed to fight paperless electronic voting machines. (and won, until the State Supremes overturned the decision)

He is not afraid to stand up for his beliefs and he definitely will stand up for those whose voices are not being heard in the State Committee and the Democratic Party.

Chuck would make a fine PA Democratic Party Chair. If you are on State Committee (or know anyone who is) please blast the word everywhere that he is running and support him!

PoliticsPA: Underdog Pascal not backing down from chairman’s race

Longtime Armstrong County Democrat Chuck Pascal said Thursday he’s not backing down from plans to run for chairman of the state Democratic Party despite likely opposition from some of the party’s most powerful leaders.

But the former state committee member said their involvement doesn’t deter him because Democrats from across the state, not just the largest areas, pick the new chairman. Pascal cast himself as the grassroots alternative who nonetheless can still navigate political waters at the highest level.

“I think I have a good relationship with both the progressive side of the party and the establishment side of the party,” the Democrat said. “State committee chairmanships shouldn’t always be decided by the decisions of the few largest counties and or their leaders. “I think the state committee should choose its chair.”

“Voices of the rest of the state aren’t often heard,” said the former local elected official. “We need to make sure that state committee needs to become more open to listening. State committee members don’t really feel they have a voice or a role there. That’s a frustration among most state committee people.”

1. Rec. It is about time we had some real Democrats here in Rendell's
Paradise....It is a shame we didn't get one to run for governor,
but this may be our best shot at real change in PA...

3. Pennsylvania Democrats battle over vacant chairman position
The party's gubernatorial candidate usually gets to pick the chairman, but Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato hasn't publicly supported anyone -- even though the county's party chairman, County Councilman Jim Burn, is seeking his endorsement.

Former Leechburg Mayor Charles Pascal and Marcel Groen, chairman of the Montgomery County Democratic Party, are running against Burn. Pascal said the party's power for too long has been concentrated in its largest cities, and suburban and rural activists feel slighted.
