10 State Legislators State Their Positions on Education Cuts and Gas Extraction Tax
http://readingeagle.com/article.aspx?id=304884

Most Republicans are sticking to the party line: They are willing to shift money from the Dept. of Public Welfare to slightly reduce the severity of the education cuts. That mainly would involve human service programs, since the state provides very little direct welfare payments to individuals. Second, most support a gas well fee, but only want the money to be used in localities where the gas wells are located.

Governor Gashole says the Legislature cannot increase total proposed spending, and cannot use any gas extraction fee/well proceeds for anything other than local needs in the Gasland counties.
