Casey decision on Senate race expected soon
Wednesday, February 23, 2005
BY PETER L. DeCOURSEY
Of The Patriot-News

Treasurer Bob Casey Jr. could decide by next week -- or sooner -- whether he will challenge U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., in 2006.

Casey is one of several Democrats exploring a run against Santorum, but polls and party leaders rank him as the strongest challenger.

Gov. Ed Rendell's communications director, Penny Lee, said, "the governor thinks Bob would be a great senator and candidate, very competitive."

<snip>

Santorum has declined to comment, but Republican State Committee spokesman Josh Wilson said, "the Republican Party and Sen. Santorum are focused on his strong record and campaign, not on who his opponent may be. Certainly Bob Casey, should he be in the running, will be an opponent that brings experience to the table. But as a party, we're not scared of Bob Casey."

1. Santorum must go
If Casey's the person to kick him out, more power to him. I'm a Pennsylvanian, and I absolutely loathe Santorum.

2. I'm so challenged about the whole Bob Casey Jr as a senator thing....
...but I realize it's probably better he be a senator than a governor. And this is only because I want to protect choice in Pennsylvania which will never happen with another casey in the statehouse. But I know there are some great qualities about Bob Casey and he is a decent democrat, albeit that whole choice issue. Maybe Bob can make a career out of being a US Senator and Democrats can get other pro-choice dems to run for governor after Rendall is gone.

I wish Bob luck- Santorum must go!

3. "we're not scared of Bob Casey." yeah right
They're pissing their pants over this. Casey will win in a major landslide. Poor Rick will have to go home to Virginia...or even to jail for his little shenanigans. What an asshole.

Anyway, it looks like some good people want to challenge Rick. All we have to do is support our candidate and we'll win. Yes, it really is that simple. Not supporting our candidates still caused fairly close elections in the past.

Check out Chuck Pennachio. He's really going for the internet/blog route. http://www.chuck2006.com
