Sources tell PoliticsPA that former Treasurer Barbara Hafer has decided not to run for Senate after a call today from Governor Ed Rendell. This essentially clears the field for Bobby Casey Jr.

1. Rendell probably asked her not to run to avoid a long and nasty

primary season. Out state Dems will need to conserve all of their resources for the fight against Santorum.
