Sumbag RI (R) Gov. screwing the people.

The Democrat controlled General Assembly recently over-rode RI Gov. Donald Carcieri's veto of a casino referendum.

The Gov, who only won with 55% support in this state, got the republican controlled Supreme Court to give him an advisory opinion --

This is another example of republicans taking the power of "voting" away from the people.

If it takes everything I have, I will work to remove this pug scum from out state house.

PROVIDENCE - - In a unanimous advisory opinion issued today, the state Supreme Court has concluded that a proposed casino referendum and related legislation passed by the General Assembly are unconstitutional.

While the nonbinding opinion apparently bolsters Governor Carcieri's effort to keep the question off the November ballot, it does not automatically remove it.

Within three hours of the court's ruling today, state Attorney General Patrick Lynch said he and Carcieri would immediately file a motion in state Superior Court requesting an injunction to prevent the question from getting on the ballot.

The question would ask voters, "Shall there be a casino in the town of West Warwick operated by an affiliate of Harrah's Entertainment in association with the Narragansett Indian tribe?"

1. Just
Please don't nominate Myrth York again.

From what I know Lincoln Almond was a moderate and this Carcieri is pretty far to the right. I am surprised he won by so much.

4. Myrth

I we have our way, Myrth is done. She is just plain un-electable.

Sheldon Whitehouse lost in a very close Democratic primary, and Don Carcieri only beat Myrth with 55% of the vote. Hardly an overwhelming mandate.

Both Carcieri and his wife are whacko-righties.

His wife is connected to the fanatical Christo Rey / Opus Dei anti-abortion fascist group.

This guy ran as a "businessman", but turned out to be nothing more than an ideolouge.

2. this is bogus
I'm not for a casino.* Think we have many more creative and less destructive ways of generating revenue.

But blocking the people from voting on this will bite him in the butt down the road.

5. Casino

This issue isn't so much about "The Casino".

The State of Rhode Island operates a monopoly on gambling, and has a history of screwing the Narragansett Indian Tribe, going back to Senator John Chaffee (R) Rhode Island.

I'm just thankful his son Lincoln, is a moderate pug. He's fairly socially liberal, and fiscally conservative; which plays well in the NorthEast.

Not that I am supporting him, but we could be stuck with a Tom Delay.

The Rhode Island pug party is trying to gain traction in the Ocean State, and they are planning on running a Bush/Renegade against Linc in '06; Steve Laffey, Mayor of Cranston.

The guy is absolutely insane.

RI needs to solidify the congressional delegation and take that seat.

6. We have two perfectly good casinos in CT
This state is too small for something like that. Plus people driving from Mass to CT like to take 295 around Providence. This casino would be just south of Providence off 95. Too much of a hassle.
