thanks for your contribution to Bob Jones University

If you are a South Carolina taxpayer you gave money to those vile fanatics this year. TheState.com has a database where they list all of the grants that handed out money in this years budget, mostly public building renovations, sewer upgrades, etc. This one caught my eye:

Bob Jones University Museum & Gallery, Inc. Greenville Support Renovations to the Museum & Gallery at Heritage Green to promote economic development and tourism. $50,000.00

There is no way in hell state money should for something like this, even if they do try to sell it as "economic development and tourism."

But the works of art housed in the museum are a credit and asset to the upstate.

2. Agreed

BJU is an ass-backwards institution in what is otherwise a charming little town. However, they do have an excellent art collection, for some strange reason.

3. Does it contain nude statues/paintings?

BJU is an "educational" institution for the sort of people who usually want things like Michelangelo's David banned on the grounds that they're obscene.

4. It's all religious art

so, I would imagine they'd allow Adam and Eve to be naked.

I went once to see their collection of Russian icons. It was quite impressive.
