'Christian Exodus' movement makes South Carolina its promised land

For now, it's in a subdivision on the outskirts of Greenville, a small plot of land with a two-story house, the Ten Commandments posted in the front yard and a trampoline in the back.

In time, Janoski believes South Carolina will fill with scores of other families who want a limited government based on Christian principles instead of officials who allow abortion and ban school prayer.

Janoski moved his wife and four children from eastern Pennsylvania to South Carolina earlier this year after hearing about Christian Exodus, a movement to "reintroduce the Christian principles once so predominant in America" one state at a time.

The first state is South Carolina, chosen because a number of residents here already agree with the aims of Christian Exodus, according to the group's president Cory Burnell.

1. They''Fit In
I thought they had been in SC all along. Their leader was with a hate group as defined by the Southern Poverty Law Center prior to his "exodus" and association with this "christian" group.
I'll bet the local Winn Dixie runs out of Kool-Aid soon.
Honestly, they'll fit right in.

2. why the news coverage?
About 100 full blown nutjobs showed up for the conference, yet The State paper is treating like a big deal. No one's going to move in, and if they did, they wouldn't be noticed in this state. I can't figure out why they are giving these lunatics this much coverage.

3. They are a joke, even here.
Seems like their convention in Greenville only attracted about 50 people. Surprisingly even our dittohead rag, the Spartanburg Herald Journal, ran less than flattering pieces on them on Thursday and Sunday, pointing out the racist connection.

Gods know this area is churchy enough already, on a recent ride through small towns south of Greenville we saw LOTS of those 10 commandment placards, maybe more than I've seen in all of Spartanburg Co. Thing is these folks don't like any outsiders telling them what to do. While many of my neighbors are terribly misinformed and are products of this regions sad history few desire the Handmaiden's Tale scenario of these dipshits. And for all of their bluster only 10 or 12 have moved to SC.

To date this is more fodder for DU flamefests than concern for the citizens of SC.

5. go to thestate.com
They have a major front page story, and ran one just like it in Sunday's paper. The tone is very neutral, like they are reporting real news. Maybe they just want to generate some interesting letters to the editor.
