How are SC'linians dealing with DeMint as the replacement for Hollings?
Is he popular there, still...DeMint? What about the Condon Repug Crowd? Isn't there a new Condon who is defying her heritage and running as a Democrat?

I don't live there anymore, but grew up there...so still follow what's going on as much as I can. Since relatives who are not dead there are Repug and not DEM as it was when I grew up...I need to ask on this forum since I can't speak anymore to the Repug relatives who forgot who they were...or maybe they "remembered who they were" in their "real" pasts and just were comfortable with the "turn." :-( I'm NOT!

1. I'm here, and I take on a repuke whenever I can. Graham and Sanford are
mentioned from time to time.

I haven't heard anyone ever mention de mint to me.

btw, bush/cheney and the once ubiquitous "w" stickers are VERY rare here now

I passed an older van on the freeway (I26) a few days ago, and the van had a sticker that read "bush lied, they died" on the back. He also had some kind of veteran's sticker, but I can't remember exactly what that said right now. I passed and looked over, and saw a quite elderly-looking gentlemen. I gave a thumbs-up, but I don't think he saw.

I've seen some "had enough? vote Democratic" stickers too

all anecdotal, I know, but as far as de mint is concerned, its like he doesn't even exist, as far as I can tell...

2. That's good to hear and especially about the bumper stickers.

I remember where I live here in NC when the SUV's had two flags flying on either side and "God Bless America" and "American Pride" plus Bush "GW" stickers and whatever else they could put on about "God/Bush/America." I see very little of that these days... What a difference.

I've seen DeMint on C-Span and it seems he must have gotten elected on the "Flat Tax," because that's what he's always going on about on the floor of the Senate. He's a mean sounding critter. I couldn't believe he replaced Hollings who has been a "gentleman Senator" and a good Dem for so many years.

3. The repukes are especially quiet about him in the midlands
or at least around me.

Like the other poster I do not see the ubiquitous "W" stickers, or yelloe ribbons, as much anymore but they are still around. I work in the upstate and there things have not changed much. There is one notable exception: whereas the "W" stickers have disappeared, the "In God We Trust" license plates are appearing everywhere (unlike the Columbia area).
