Republicans don't like Daschle's ad
By Denise Ross, Journal Staff Writer

Sen. Tom Daschle, D-S.D., takes too much credit for South Dakota's status as a leader in distance education, according to 49 state lawmakers and ex-lawmakers who signed on to a letter written by South Dakota Republican Party officials.

The group of all Republicans takes issue with a Daschle campaign TV ad that features Rapid City teacher Tammy Mestad explaining how she is earning a master's degree via the Internet from Dakota State University in Madison, about 400 miles away.

The GOP lawmakers say the credit for distance education in South Dakota goes to former Gov. Bill Janklow and state lawmakers who supported him.

"We are disappointed in your failure to recognize those who did the lion's share of the work," the lawmakers wrote to Daschle. "Years of focus and millions of dollars in resources have put our state's distance learning program among the best in the nation."

2. So, do these repukes want to give back the 900K of Daschle funding...
for distance learning?

Excerpt:

When DSU contacted Tom Daschle about funding to upgrade their distance learning center, he delivered $900,000 to be used for technology and equipment at the distance learning center. This funding, along with other distance learning projects, will help ensure that every South Dakotan, regardless of location, has the opportunity to pursue a quality education. Tom has also been working to make sure that federal grant and loan programs are available for students engaged in distance learning.

3. And Gov. Dumbass took credit for an HMO bill he opposed.
Why didn't they write a letter about that?

4. frustration..
I think part of the frustration on their part is that Daschle talks about working together to get things done. When John Thune talks about what he did and what he accomplished, Dashcle would turn around and say it takes more than one person to get things done. Then he turns around and talks about all the things he "single handedly done."

Tom maybe the best person for the job, but he is making a lot of mistakes. I am sure it is out of frustration and concern for his position.

5. Republican dislike of Daschle's ads.
Let's just get a bit of a thick skin and take in in stride.

Hey, I don't like a lot of Republican ads!
