7. Lincoln...but I graduated in '89.
So the school covered a different area of the city.
Now, I think I would have to go to Washington. It's in the north-east corner of the city, right?

13. You want to know what I thought was funny...
The richest kids in town go to the oldest school now. (Of course, the Lincoln that's there now looks quite different then when I went to school there: 86-89. For one thing, we didn't have a pool.)
Both Roosevelt and Washington are relatively new. Lincoln was built in the 60s, I believe.
That's ironic justice.

17. Bon Homme County
Yeah, smack dab in McGovern's home county (where he was born).

I'm starting a group called UDO--

we will be electing Democrats 6 times a year (what a concept!)

Check it out --

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sd_democrats_UDO /

Let's start a state wide UDO (ultra Democratic organization)--

first elections December 2004!

(Anyone can join the Yahoo group)

Thanks!

19. Better question. Is anyone doing research on the Senate race?
The county data is online. Does anyone have the precinct data? Has anyone started an analysis for irregularities?

This was such a close contest. It would have been an easy steal!

20. Precinct data
Well, I'm not aware of any irregularities affecting the vote at the precinct where I was a poll watcher. In this precinct we had paper ballots, and it went about 4 to 1 for Daschle.

One comment that I have was that if the Daschle organization had spent a little preelection effort specifically letting likely pro-Daschle voters know exactly where they had to go vote prior to the election Daschle would have done even better than he did here in Dewey County, and probably in Ziebach County too.

I estimate that he could have picked up an additional 150 votes in these two counties with such efforts. About 7 people came into the polling place where I worked at the last minute only to find out they had to go to another polling place and it was too late.

There were also similar problems earlier in the day--one likely Daschle voter would have had to drive about 200 miles to Todd County where she was registered and she didn't have a car.

I can believe that there was Republican chicanery in South Dakota. This is indicated by, among other things, the fraudulent registrations involving Thune's nephew, and also by reports of harassment and intimidation of (predominantly Indian) voters, particularly in Charles Mix County.

I suspect, however, that any such chicanery was likely (as in other states) at the counties and precincts where they have computerized voting.
