Kurita on Rountable
emailing:

Rosalind Kurita was a guest on Teddy Bart's Roundtable last week. Click here to hear the interview: <http://www.thepublicforum.org/audio/show-June-23-2005.asf>

Highlights included:

On Energy Policy: "If we really mean business about protecting our country, we have to get off the fossil fuels," Kurita said while advocating wind power as a viable alternative.

On what it means to be a Democrat: "Educating our children, making sure we have a health care delivery system that works, making sure we have a secure country, and that people who work hard and play by the rules get a reward. That's why I'm a Democrat."

On why Tennesseans will vote for her: "I'm the candidate that can represent real people … I am a nurse, I would be the only nurse in the United States Senate, I've taken care of suffering people … I'm a wife, I'm a mother, I've raised three children, we have an adopted child, I've owned my own small business, I have experience in the Tennessee State Senate, that's why I can win this race."

Positive media coverage continues to be seen as Roger Abramson of the Nashville Scene described Kurita on Thursday as: "a self-styled conservative Democrat with both a proven ability to connect to rural voters and a mean shot with a skeet rifle…"

7. I met her at the TN Federation of Democratic Women's Convention
in April. She dropped by the hospitality suite Friday evening and I was introduced to her and we talked for about 20 mins. Sat. she and Ford, Jr. addressed the luncheon attendees.

I'm going to try to attend the DFT convention, too.

6. It was a great interview!
I really enjoyed it. I learned some things about her. Like her dad was a LT at Pearl Harbor and he's one of the last few survivor's of that day. She said her dad said that FDR knew they were going to get attacked and all the equipment was locked up and he gets mad when he talks about Pearl Harbor. The only order he gave that day was "cease fire". When he got to the gun and the men (they had to go all around the island to get the ammunition) and it was their plane's who were coming around. She also is saying her campaign is doing great and she's doing exactly what she wants to do. If you haven't heard you definitley should!
