Highlights included:
On Energy Policy: "If we really mean business about protecting our country, we have to get off the fossil fuels," Kurita said while advocating wind power as a viable alternative.
On what it means to be a Democrat: "Educating our children, making sure we have a health care delivery system that works, making sure we have a secure country, and that people who work hard and play by the rules get a reward. That's why I'm a Democrat."
On why Tennesseans will vote for her: "I'm the candidate that can represent real people … I am a nurse, I would be the only nurse in the United States Senate, I've taken care of suffering people … I'm a wife, I'm a mother, I've raised three children, we have an adopted child, I've owned my own small business, I have experience in the Tennessee State Senate, that's why I can win this race."
