Why won't Harold Ford Jr endorse the DEMOCRATIC candidate for his old seat
Sure, your Brother is running as an independent - but the split could send a Republican to the House.

Steve Cohen, the Democratic Candidate, is the best State Senator in Tennessee. He deserves ALL of our support.

Harold Ford - why should I vote for you, when you won't support the party's nominee???

1. well...
The only thing I know is this: Either Ford or Corker will be our next U.S. senator...you damn sure do not want Corker...and to not vote for Ford is another vote for Corker. I don't know why Ford does or does not endorse Steve Cohen, I feel he should as well...BUT, I will still support Ford and hope you will vote for him as well because he the best candidate to put in that senate seat.

7. Why vote for Ford
You see I still don't get why I should vote for someone who I have major disagreements with jsut because they slap a D after their name? Should I cast my vote for my oppressor? If I choose the lesser of the 2 evils am I still not choosing evil? There seems to be this mantra that I should support the party no matter what but the host of this party doesn't want me dancing with the partner of my choice. Could someone explain why I should profane my vote for the greater good that will not include me?

2. I know a couple of committee members who have written Chairman Tuke
stating in straight forward language that we must support all of our democratic nominees in reference to this situation. I'll try to give them a call soon to find out if the letters received a response from him.

I'll vote for Ford, but I don't like this situation one bit either. His brother could've entered the primary race just like everybody else and I'm very angry with what Jake has done in this situation and I truly hope that Cohen beats him and wins the seat just because of this.

Perhaps we should refer to him as TN's little Lieberman.

3. Harold Ford Jr. is too much like Lieberman
And he doesn't support any of the issues that are important to me.

I will end up voting for him, nothing could make me vote Corker. But stunts like this make it hard to generate much enthusiasm for his candidacy.

4. well...
I personally would prefer a more "liberal" candidate than Ford. However, in Tennessee that ain't gonna happen...at least not anytime soon.
:hi:

8. Well
So because we can't get a more liberal candidate I should vote for someone who thinks I do not deserve the same rights as himself? Claire if he believed that women should stay home to cook, clean and have babies would you vote for him?

5. I understand what you're saying, I truly do!
I was also angry with the fact that in my county I had to sign a friggin' loyalty oath to sit on a certain committee, and I have NEVER once failed to fall in line after a primary, so this situation on top of what Lieberman has pulled just put me in a state of low boil that is pretty much constant.

I did get in touch with one of the committee persons earlier and there has been no response to the letter to chairman Tuke, and this person will mention it to him privately at a meeting in Nashville, but locally has decided to let it go until after the election and then will raise hell to try to keep this from happening again.

Whatever happened to 'you fall in love during the primary and you fall in line for the general', especially when those elected to office seem to expect it from the rest of us while ignoring it themselves?
