5. The movie star syndrome "America loves it's movie stars"
As far as I know, he is fairly clean. He was well thought of while Senator & left because his daughter died & had young children.

He is intelligent & "THE MOVIE STAR SYNDROME!" Remember Ronald Reagan? He will be though of as the New Ronald Reagan. He is already known by the national public from his roles. He once played the President in a movie, but I don't remember the name of it. So public already sees him as presidential.

Hope he doesn't run. I think he would obviously carry TN.

13. I have to agree...
Even if another Tennessean threw his hat in the ring(Gore)the idiots in this state would gladly elect Thompson. It's genetically impossible for our state to discern the best candidate.

15. I asked my mother who still lives in east TN
about his candidacy and she said that all her friends would gladly vote for the oaf Thompson, over any other candidate.

For for it's worth. But I don't think he has a snowball's chance on the national scene.

2. I asked this elsewhere, but the thread sank.
Is this the same Fred Thompson who played Adm. Painter in "The Hunt for Red October"? I'd heard he became a Senator, but I didn't realize he was still acting, as well.

10. In my local paper a few days ago, FrankenFrist was enouraging
Thompson to run. That would be FrankenFrist who did absolutely no oversight while majority leader, and just look at what's bubbling to the surface now, beside the fact that he's had his head planted so far up Bush**'s ass that he can't distance himself from all of the scandals.

What is the status of the SEC investigations against FrankFrist now?

FrankenFrist is firmly on record for supporting liars, torturers, and Thompson made an appearance at Libby's trial as a show of support - so he supports liars who obstruct justice and are accomplices in treason?

Just some thoughts. I don't think that I saw you upon your arrival to DU so I extend a belated Welcome :toast: :hi:

14. Attention Lawerence County DUers: inspect, copy the 1985 Thompson divorce file
Edited on Wed Aug-15-07 08:29 AM by doeriver
Attention Lawerence County DUers:

please inspect the records at your county courthouse from the 1985 Fred Thompson divorce file that are available for public inspection - generally speaking , the established news media outlets in Tennessee are not even scratching at this potential source of new Fred Thompson information. Fred Thompson was divorced from his first wife in 1985, the same year that he landed his first motion picture acting role (playing himself) in the film Marie.

I am making the assumption here that Mr. and Mrs. Thompson One filed for their divorce in their 1985 Lawerence County - the action may have been filed within other Tennessee counties as well.

In any case, there should be plenty of public records from the Thompson v. Thompson divorce file that can be rendered as an Adobe Acrobat file and disseminated over the internet.

18. Publicity Stunt
I dont think he is serious. Even is he is I dont think people will take him seriously. He reminds me of raygun in the last year of his presidency. Clueless. And as I mentioned in another post - Being president ages people, he would turn to dust.

I think he should stick to cameos in movies and tv shows. I though he was great in Days of Thunder.
