Help!!!! Somebody save me from my neo-con boss
Sorry everybody for being MIA, some how my B* supporting boss found out I went to the Jazz Funeral. Basically I got my hand slapped, but been going through a hard time at work this past month. I have been asked to stay after extra hours, with no comp time or over-time pay. So I have been coming home really late around 8:30 - 9 PM. By the time I get home, I am too tired so far it has been nothing more eat and sleep. Is there a lawyer in the house who is familiar with labor and the new over-time laws. I am salary, yet I still have to clock in. If not, anybody know of a job opening.

1. Labor law does vary a bit from state to state...

For your state, to get a definitive answer, call your state's wage and hour division of the labor department. They can also tell you how the new federal law affects state law.

What I'm curious about here is why you would get your "hand slapped" for attending an event out of state? Were you expected to do this additional work after going to the Jazz Funeral? Are there others in the company expected to do the same? Are they non-Bush supporters? What I'm driving at is that you may be being discriminated against, and that is actionable. Not easy to prove, and certainly wouldn't improve relations with your boss, but it might be a way to stop what could be harassment.

Cheers.

3. What did you do that day?
Did you tell them you were sick? Did you take leave? How did you handle it at work?

Is the issue that you went, or that you went under false pretenses? I'm just curious.

Because if I was a boss and had been lied to and found out the truth, I'd be annoyed, whether I was Democrat or Republican. (But if I was Democrat, I'd pat you on the back and give you an attaboy. Your boss may not be feeling this type of goodwill. You know what I mean?)

Just my 2 cents.

4. I was wondering what you were up to!
Sorry things have been bad there. Did you get the pics and link I sent? Mine may be off the server by now, but I have them on CD too if you didn't get the link.

6. That really sucks!
Sorry you're going through that. I've been treated unfairly at work and I know how much it sucks, but never over my political views. Hang in there ChicanoPwr
