Dallas AAR: station and party update

As you are probably aware, KXEB-AM is "experiencing technical difficulty." I exchanged phone messages a short while ago with Border Media's VP of Operations, Bob Proud, who let me know that they were hit by lightning early this morning. (I knew the "vast right-wing conspiracy" had clout in certain quarters...but jeez!!!) Bob and the technical staff are working on the situation and hope to have it resolved soon. If you're able to monitor the station, please let us know when you're able to receive a clear signal. I'm holding off on the media alert about the party until the transmission problem is resolved, but I'd like to send it ASAP to get on the board with as many outlets as possible.

Regarding the Welcome Party, everything is still ON and looking pretty good! I've heard from quite a few individuals who plan to be there and was copied by several list managers as they sent to the activists on their lists. I hesistate to estimate how many people will actually be there, but it's looking good from what I see! Continue to encourage your activists to come!

As far as set-up goes...we have decoration, sign-in, photography and boom-box covered. We still could use some help with audio recording and media calls later this afternoon...as well as spreading the word to potential attendees. If you're able to help, please respond by e-mail.

Speaking of media...should you be contacted to comment about the station being off the air, do your best to keep your response positive and focused on the enthusiasm of the activists in your group. "We're so thrilled to have Air America in North Texas what's a few more hours?" I'll pass on any info I get so that we can all be informed.
