Good God, they couldn't have found a cheesier bunch of characters if their lives had depended on it. I'm thinking this is just what we need: more ridiculous, over-the-top stereotypes of Texans.

:scared:

I love TLC, too; what a disappointment!

1. Yes. They took the absolute WORST of Dallas and chose to portray that.
I will NOT be watching.

This will lead to endless streams of Texas-bashing here, too. I predict lots of "alert" button hitting.

2. All I look forward to, out of Texas...
Is that some measure of sanity returns to its public affairs. When I was touring with Rock Bands, everyone looked forward to the Texas leg of the tour, because it was the coolest and most fun place of the tour.

Best lookin' wimmenfolk, on average and in sheer numbers, too. :D

Oh, the nights I have spent in The West End. If only I could remember more than 25% of them...

But slag it? Nah. Any state that holds SXSW has got to have a core of worth that all the other stuff cannot touch.

4. Does look really bad
Count me as disappointed too. Why would TLC develop this program? Looks more like FOX programming.

Hope it has a short life.

8. TLC is in big trouble.
Ever since "Trading Spaces" crashed, they've lost about a bazillion points in market share, I read the other day.

They're going for lowest common denominator, it sounds like.

What exactly is this thing ya'll are talking about? I haven't heard of it.

11. Here you go;
http://tlc.discovery.com/fansites/sheerdallas/sheerdallas.html

You can click on the "sneak Preview" link and read about the show, but only the commercials really capture the cheesy nature of it. It premiers this Friday.

5. It will be kind of like a train wreck...
horrifying to watch, but impossible to peel your eyes away.

I'll probably be catching reruns before I can help myself.

6. Haven't seen the previews yet...
...but I probably won't watch, either. We Texans don't mind lampooning our own culture now and then, but turning it into kitsch is something else. We even had our own version of Art Deco in the 30s, for goodness' sake. Now look what we've been brought down to.

7. I was JUST ABOUT to post about this!!!
I just saw the ad twice tonight and was disgusted!! OMG, could they possibly engage in more stereotypes?

Yeah, we're ALL like that. :eyes:

I was born in Dallas, grew up here, still live here, and that looks freaking ridiculous.

The real estate lady has had too much plastic surgery, too.

9. I might watch in the hopes that something falls off her face.
But that's about it.

10. Yeah, even though I'm a Fort Worth native, and we have that
friendly rivalry with Dallas, I know it's not THAT bad! ;)

Besides, people not from the metroplex don't usually make distinctions between Fort Worth and Dallas residents, so we're all in the same boat!

As soon as I saw the real estate lady, I thought, "Ewww; cheek implants AND lip collagen...she looks like a Muppet!"

12. It's starting now. 9:00.
I have the sound off, and I'm listening to music.

Looks like they picked the richest, most arrogant people in Dallas to show.

Sigh...

13. Yeah, I think it's horrible too
Wedding event of the year...well I've never heard of you.

This just looks disgusting. With all of Dallas at your hand, you couldn't pick any normal people?

And I agree up thread, I don't live in Dallas, but shows like this horrible steretype make this whole area look bad.

I read on the TLC web page that it's only 6 episodes...but with the way TLC reruns everything to death it'll feel like a bazillion.
