Goodhair's aide trolls for lobbyist $$$ for ads
Lobbyists might soon pitch in more than $1 million for advertising and phone calls encouraging grass-roots Republicans to support legislative action that would lower property taxes, an idea hatched last week by Gov. Rick Perry's chief of staff.

Perry's office cautioned Tuesday that it's too early to say whether the campaign suggested by Deirdre Delisi will take place.

Rob Looney of the Texas Oil & Gas Association, one of about 10 groups asked to consider aiding the campaign, said Delisi "seemed to be pretty committed. I'm going to try to raise some money for it."

John Heasley of the Texas Bankers Association said such advertising is "something to consider. Public awareness has got to be a factor in everything."

1. Fascism is alive and well in Texas
Perry et all have no shame. They should just start getting their salaries directly by the corporations. Why not, their one and the same.

This part is just lovely.
"There are a number of legislators who need our support in this effort," her handout states. "They need to know that there is grassroots support for the Governor's effort to cut property taxes and reform education spending.

"We would like to put together this advertising program to help show them the kind of support that we know exists for this plan."

The proposed campaign would appear to be legal because the ads would focus on promoting issues, not candidates.

But the campaign could still tap corporate money at a time when its use for political purposes is under scrutiny. Lawmakers are considering a proposal to ban anonymously funded ads in the closing days of campaigns.

Note the words "number of legislators who need our support". Well color me suspicious but that sure sounds like they're promoting candidates. And let's see, of course the ads will have that all important ID tag paid by, why of course The Texas Republic Party no doubt. Yeah right.

2. Perry et all
but Carole Strayhorn hasn't missed any meals either. ;)

It is interesting that the Repugs are having so much trouble passing their school finance proposals what with the large majorities they have in both houses.

The 'dirty little secret' is that the poor rurals, even if they have had to switch to the GOP to remain in office, are hearing from their school districts. And they are not hearing anything good about the reversal of Robin Hood. When you are poor, Robin Hood is a friend, even if you don't like to admit you are receiving "welfare" from the rich.
