Lamar "Kiss Ass" Smith not at Press Conference
WASHINGTON - Retreating under pressure, Republicans on the House ethics committee said Wednesday they were ready to open an investigation into allegations of wrongdoing against Majority Leader Tom DeLay.

Four of the five Republicans on the committee were ready to move ahead, said Rep. Doc Hastings, the panel’s Republican chairman.

1. this is just a tactic
these bozos SAY they'll cooperate, but they still refuse to change back the rules on the ethics committee-the Dems want it back to if there is a partisan tie, there is automatically an investigation. The Repukes changed it so a partisan tie results in NO investigation.

Until this rule is changed, we can't go on. The Repukes aren't known for telling the truth and keeping their word, and I wouldn't put it past them to say ok to a DeLay investigation only to scuttle it once the spotlight is off the committee.

2. I totally agree
They know DeLay is toast so they agree to this investigation so that no one can say they are abusing their power. One thing unsettling to me though is the strong support from Rove and the White house. It seemed McClellan(sp) was backing his boss away, but this week they seem to have reattatched his feeding tube. I get the feeling that something fishy is going on. Then again I have had that feeling for over four years now.

4. I can't find any humor in Lamar
Well, I'll laugh all night when we throw his silly ass out of the Congress.
