Ask Quan to run in the 7th................
Many of us believe a team of Nick Lampson running in the 22nd against DeLay and Gordon Quan running in the 7th against Culberson would be a great team.

I keep reading the DCCC is interested in both of them for the 22nd, with
a leaning toward Quan. We don't need to squander time and money with a primary between two really great candidates. We NEED a viable candidate in the 7th. Gordon lives in the 7th and has been elected to city council three times. It's a tough district for any Democrat. It's been Repuke all the way back to when Poppy Bush was the congressman from here. I can't think of any Democrat who could pull it off, except a Quan/Lampson team, hitting Culberson with his 97% voting with DeLay.

Please consider e-mailing him and asking him to enter the race for congress in the 7th!! His e-mail address is below.

1. Excellent idea, Merci Mary!
I just did a little checking and Culberson gets a mess of money from DeLay and DeLay connections. If Lampson can tie-up DeLay's spending in the 22nd to win his own seat, Culberson will have a hard time raising money on his own. Quan is a very proficient fundraiser.

I think it'll come down to which one of the two can do best in the Clear Lake area because that's the area where Morrison got creamed last time. I tend to think Lampson would do best there.

I do want to say this - both of them are real gems.

3. Merci Bien, merci_me!
Done - I emailed Gordon Quan about this last week. Promised to volunteer, host a house party, whatever I can do for his chances...in the 7th!

One bit of research I'd like to do if I had more time is to find how often Culberson's and DeLay's votes in Congress have matched. Do we have a perfect 100%? I wouldn't be surprised... but wouldn't some voters? Do they KNOW they're electing a man who has never thought for himself?

The Texas R's remind me of kids with trying to get away with the excuse that "all the other kids are doing it." Remember what our mothers used to say to that one? "If all of the other kids were jumping off a bridge, would you do that too?"

If all of the other kids voted for bankruptcy loopholes for multi-millionaires, but not for veterans wounded in combat, would you do that too?

If all of the other kids sponsored legislation that would INCREASE toxic mercury in many communities, would you do that too?

And so on. May Culberson and DeLay both jump off the same high bridge.

5. It's a 97% match
I haven't researched the votes, just picked up the total on one of the watchdog sites. I wouldn't be surprised if the 3% where he didn't match with DeLay were votes where one of them was absent. If DeLay was absent that must have been a really scarey prospect for Culberson, trying to remember his instructions from Tommy.

It couldn't have been with both of them there and little itty bitty brown-nose Culberson voted differently.

Hell, if it looks like DeLay is going to tank, Culberson will probably pee his pants.

6. Real bad news
An hour ago, we got electronic voting with no paper trail in Fort Bend. I'm not happy about it. http://www.brazosriver.com/wait.htm

The GOP party chair, former Enron spokesman Eric Thode, was a big supporter of it even though the majority of his precinct chairs were against it. It just seems damn odd to me that this got railroaded through right now.

Sorry I put this here, but I didn't know where else to put it.

Sorry JJ.

These bastards are hammering that shit through just about everywhere. I'm waiting to see when they hit Rockwall County.

9. If you haven't already..............
and you think this is a good way to start, PLEASE e-mail Gordon Quan. Congressman Nick Lampson has committed to run against DeLay in the 22nd. We don't need a primary race in the 22nd and we DO NEED a great candidate to run against Culberson in the 7th.

This would be to the advantage of EVERY Texan. We need to work hard and together, to recapture a Democratic Congressional MAJORITY, not just in Texas, but in Washington, DC.

Thanks

Mary
