Open Records Requests versus Open Meetings
I called up the local school board to find out if I could get a copy of the minutes from the meeting this month that I missed. The person answering the phone told me that, to get them, I'd have to file an Texas open records request for that specific meeting and, since the minutes don't come out officially until the next meeting (which will be at the end of May), I can't get them until 10 days after their release (which would be June). Therefore, if I wanted to do this every month, I'd have to file a request every single month

If I were to take in a video camera or tape recorder, I'd have it immediately, wouldn't have to file a request, per the
Texas Open Meetings Act
