Everything about him, even his accent, is fake.

'nuff said.

2. That accent drives me crazy!
Here's a guy who's from Connecticut... went to fancy Ivy League schools... his parents don't sound like hillbillies... yet he talks like Jethro Bodine at the end of a lost weekend. It's just a part of his pandering to the bubbacracy---you know he would say Nuke-LEE-ar if he wasn't play-acting!

3. No kidding...
Makes us all look bad is what he does.
Maybe we can deport him back to his home state?

4. Somebody mentioned this earlier on DU
But once I clearly heard the Chimp pronounce "rather" like a flashback to Mr. Howell on Gilligan's Island. It was freaky. I grew up northwest of Fort Worth, in an area everyone but the natives call West Texas. Whatever Shrub is speaking isn't west Texan. Maybe a North Dallas Wannabe Patois??

6. oh but here in Lubbock
The media talked it up about how he grew up in Midland. Well his Daddy moved there to make money in the oil boom. And junior stuck around. His dad says he lives in Texas, but he keeps an apartment in Houston so that he can claim that as a permanent residence so he does not have to pay state taxes in kennibunkport. When Bush leaves office in 2005 he won't come back to Texas, he probably has already picked out an estate in maine next to his Mommies.

7. the chimpster is the carbetbagging son of a carpetbagger
Edited on Fri Apr-23-04 05:41 AM by mrbill
The Early Years.

In June of 1948, after graduation from Yale, Papa HW Bush loaded up Babs and the family in the car and headed South.

The Shrub clan settled in Odessa, where Papa had a job with International Derrick and Equipment Company (ideco), a subsidiary of Dresser Industries. Some family friend back East got him the job. Weird but true, Haliburton (one l or 2?) merged with Dresser in September of 1998.

From Kennibunkport to Odessa, that could be a shock to the senses. Bet Babs wined about that dust a lot. Where are the trees? The family soon became upwardly mobile as Papa expanded his connections and moved into oil drilling, covert activities and republican politics.

Shiney new dwellings in Midland and Houston. Papa would be out doing his dirty deeds while at homestead the chimpster and his brothers were torturing frogs with firecrackers and chasing Marvin around the house shooting him in the ass with bb guns, while mama just didn't seem to notice and drank her beverage of choice.

The best guess is that Chimpy spent his first five years in the Midland public school system. Then the chimpster was sent off to the Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass, in 1960-1961. Facts to the actual dates are vague here.

And that ranch is nothing but a movie set with great property tax benefits. According to the McLennan county tax rolls, the tax in 2003 was $16,000 for 3 houses including the 4000 square-foot main house with pool a 1,300 square-foot house and a 935 square-foot house and 1,597 acres. When chimpy leaves office, the "ranch" will become a weekend thing. He might buy cheney's old house in highland park???

Papa and Babs with an apartment in Houston, it might be worse than that. During big daddy HWB's term in office his official address for tax reasons was a hotel in Houston. Didn't they have an an odd-shaped lot in River Oaks and plans to build a house? When pigs fly...........

on edit: spell check harpy attack

8. It was more than a "friend"
Prescott Bush, Shrub's grandfather was on the board of directors for Brown Brothers Harriman which owned Dresser Industries at the time. Course the interesting coincedence is that BBH sold Dresser to ... Halliburton.

10. St. John's School proud of rejecting Bush
Two of my kids attend St. John's in Houston. One of the things that St. John's is proud of is the fact that the school rejected Bush. Bush 41 had to send Bush 43 to Andover where he was accepted as a legacy.
