A stupid thing to be sad about (regarding Rita)
I had the oddest thought a few minutes ago...I've always wanted to go to the Schlitterbahn in South Padre but I can't imagine it would survive Rita. I felt this way about NO before Katrina hit. I've always wanted to go but never did. Makes me sad.

Of course I'm worried sick about the important stuff, but it's weird that the new Schlitterbahn of all things popped into my head.

1. Rita is currently headed for Port Lavaca, which is halfway between
Corpus Christi to the south and Galveston/Houston to the north. Padre Island is to the south (the good side of the hurricane). South Padre is safe. North Padre could have some impact?

2. I thought the Schlitterbahn was in New Braunsfels?
Halfway between San Antonio and Austin off I-35. Maybe I'm confused...

3. There's a second one on S. Padre Island.
I've never been to it but it can't be as good as the one in New Braunfels with all the wonderful oak trees. :)

4. Everyone I know who has gone to that Schlitterbahn says it's a waste
Don't even bother, they say. My kids love the main park in New Braunfels, so have no desire to see the small one on Padre.

6. I cannot imagine Schlitterbahn's w/o the trees...
I have no desire whatsoever to go to the one on South Padre island. But I love New Braunfels! It is refreshing.

I'll send you some tickets!
I have "connections" that gets me free tickets to baseball games, amusement parks, etc.
