I heard Chris Bell speak at a local rally.
Pretty impressive. Took questions from the crowd and some were a bit tricky. One woman, being Catholic and pro life, asked about abortion. Chris answered that while the party platform and he personally favor the right of choice that nobody, pro-life or pro-choice, wants to see more abortions, that Texas is near the top in unwanted pregnancies and abortions and that his promise is to make abortion as rare as possible through education and economic development. He sounded very Clintonesq--safe, legal and rare.

Asked about prop 2 he said that regardless of where you stand on gay marriage it was a badly worded amendment. Read it carefully and paragraph A defines marriage and paragraph B says that Texas won't recognize it. I checked it out and sure enough, that's what it says!

1. The best thing Bell says about gay marriage is
is that GLBT people just want the same things the rest of already have and take for granted. That the amendment seeks to differentiate legally their rights, when the truth is that their hopes and dreams are no different from ours. That in actuality, they are not any different from us; they pull their pants on one leg at a time just like we do.

Well, their pants are little tighter; that's the only difference.

2. Yeah and that Rick Perry can't even screw gays right . . .
That wasn't Bell, but I heard it from one of the activists at another rally.

3. I dunno. about the tight pants, PDittie......
I see a whole lot of redneck cowboy types whose pants are so tight, they can't get their gut inside and it ends up hanging over their belt, making them look very preggy. Well ok, most of them do have a whole wad of butt room hangin' down in back. Ya think they might teach Clothing 101 in "intelligent design"?
