Pete Sessions will have an opponent!
The good news we've all been waiting for in Dallas's 32nd!! For those of us with NO representation in Congress, I can report that this morning I met the man who is 99% committed to running against that know-nothing, do-nothing, back-bencher republican parrot, Pete Sessions. Our man comes from a strong lineage of Democrats (not Texas) with relatives -- past and present -- in Congress. He will start his signature campaign tomorrow at the rally for Senators Obama, Reid, Biden and Lautenberg.

Sessions will be a tough one to beat in his new DeLay-drawn district, but I'm ecstatic to see someone willing to put up a fight.
:woohoo:

1. Now if you can just obtain sufficient funding.
Sessions has lots of coin, is your guy progressive?

2. Yeah, that's one thing I'm not sure of, how progressive he is...
He did mention the war as being a big issue. He also said he comes from a "faith-based" background. Now if we're talking progressive Christian values (like MLK) that's what we need to win around here. But if we're talking Republican-lite, I may have to hold my nose when I cast my ballot.

You can be sure when he proves his commitment to this race that he will go under my microscope.

3. Congratulations!
Now I hope you sign up to help him. With good grassroots work anything is possible. 2006 is the year of the challenger. The repukes have everything to lose and we can take it away from them. Thank him for stepping up!

:applause:

4. Well, that's good news!
Let's talk when I get back in town and I can help. Since I don't think EBJ will have a problem getting re-elected, I'll be looking to put in some time on some other races.

5. Hey there, good to see you're keeping up with the news at home...
A lot's been going on. If only we could find a slimy link between Sessions and Abramhoff or DeLay, the race wouldn't be such an uphill climb. I'm just glad to see a Democratic challenger, and he acknowledges the odds and is willing to be a sacrificial lamb.

At least we won't have to run a ficus tree against Pete.

6. Yeah, I've been checking in when I can.
It's nice here but I've had limited internet and NO cable TV so I feel terminally news deprived. Not that that's a bad thing per se but I feel like I have no idea about what's been going on!

Anyway I'm looking forward to getting home and getting back to WORK! :D (and by that I mean politics, of course.) :7

7. Just got back from vacation & saw this!
That's good news! I was afraid I'd have to come through on the ficus tree promise if no one turned up.

Notice how Sessions has kind of laid low since the election. The run-up to 2004, it seemed like he was always in the news, making one embarrassing statement after another. These days, he's been pretty quiet, probably hoping he could slide through 2006 with no opposition.
