Any challengers in TX-23 (Bonilla's district)?
Nobody's filed yet, and I can't google up any announcements. We might need to start sending email to draft someone.

PS. Don't look at me. I'm a civil servant. But I'd hate to see what would happen if we ran no candidate at all, and then Bonilla gets caught up in the coming scandals.

1. I would love to see Bonilla challenged
I'm not from the area but I wish someone would step up and run.

Anything is possible this year. It's the year of the challenger even in heavy republican districts.

For example, one of our precinct chairs here in Travis is running for the first time, taking on incumbent Texas Republican Senator. Maybe his chances aren't so great but at least he's willing to step up and give the people a choice. You gotta love that!

carpetbagger, if you're in that district look at the precinct chairs and see if you recognize anyone who might do it.

2. Oh, oh, oh - how about Rick Bolanos of El Paso
The Jeffersonian has the scoop. Lets hope it's true.

It looks like Henry Bonilla will get his first 2006 opponent fairly soon. Rumor is that Rick Bolanos of El Paso, who some of you may know as the former coordinator of Veterans for Kerry in the Southwest, will announce in the near future. There's also another, San Antonio-based, name that's being bandied about right now. I haven't been able to confirm this one, but the moment I do I'll let you all know.
