3. Thanks, but
I didn't mean A.G. as in Attorney General. I meant Ag. as in Commissioner of Agriculture.:hi:

4. I'm backing Hank Gilbert
He doesn't have a web site, but I have heard him speak and he's an incredible candidate. He's smart so even if he doesn't have direct Ag Agency experience, he knows agriculture.

The candidates bio page on the Statesman, says he doesn't have a web site

7. I agree with you Gman
I was responding to a post to an endorsement Vince Leibowitz made for Melton. That was on the post PDittie linked to on this thread. I support Hank Gilbert and I think he would make a hell of Ag Commissioner.

Agriculture Commissioner. Koecadee Melton, Jr. This too was a difficult race to decide upon. Hank Gilbert has experience as an elected official with the Walnut Springs WSC Board, while Mr. Melton has experience in the TxDoAg. I support Mr. Melton because I believe that his knowledge of the agency (having worked for Jim Hightower) will enable him to better run the agency and point out what the Republican Ag Commissioner, Susan Combs, screwed up and what her pre-ordained successor, Todd Staples (R-Palestine) will likely continue to screw up.

5. The Victoria Advocate had a nice endorsement of Ben Grant:
"BEN Z. GRANT honorably served Texas for 37 years, as a state representative, chairing the Texas House Judiciary Committee for six years, as a state district judge and as a justice of the 6th Court of Appeals in Texarkana. He also taught school and is a writer and playwright.

During his time in the House, Grant was a member of the "Dirty Thirty," which, for a time, changed the way that chamber does the people's business. This bipartisan group resisted corrupt Speaker Gus Mutscher Jr.'s ruthless control of the House. The Sharpstown scandal brought Mutscher down, and the Dirty Thirty, along with other reformers, passed a series of measures to clean up the political process and make state government more transparent.

Grant believes state government again needs a thorough clean-up and a recommitment to transparency. The influence of deep-pocket special interests in Austin underscore this need. Democratic voters should pick this distinguished veteran of public service to challenge Lt. Gov. David Dew-hurst in November."

I voted for Ben Grant for Lt. Gov. and Hank Gilbert for Ag. Comm'n.
