Velly velly interesting. I can't seem to find the original argument discussion we had about them, but I recall doubting their existence -- now, here they are. So they do exist, I grant that point.

As for the rest of it, phew. I'll just be glad when the primary is over.

Edited to add: OMG, ya'll watch the video at the link! Too funny!

1. I got the "attack mailer" Tuesday (after I'd already voted), and I agree
the mail piece is misleading (in so far as I might agree trying to mischaracterize someone's views on an issue is misleading when the basis for your characterization is a vote from three decades ago on a topic where the opponent has indisputably come to a different view in the intervening decades), but I cannot see the flyer making a whit of difference. It baffles me that one candidate is simultaneously trying to paint the his primary opponent as "too liberal to win in November" but then sending out flyers which inaccurately paint his opponent as less liberal than he actually is. If that campaign which sent out the "attack mailer" wins on Tuesday, we ought to suggest to the campaign that the person in charge of this internally inconsistent campaign message isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, and there are other people associated with that same campaign (including smart folks who post in this forum frequently) who would do a thousand times better in getting out a clear message without all that cognitive dissonance.

Now, if you want to see some real attack ads, y'all ought to come down as see our judicial races here in South Texas. There are ads which are literally and demonstrably false. I have a pretty high tolerance for campaign nonsense (by "tolerance" I don't mean that I condone it, but I nevertheless have come to expect it, and so I'm more disappointed than shocked by it), but a few of the ads have really shocked me in how far from the truth they have strayed.

2. Direct link to Bell video
I thought this deserved to get punched up a little. If you are another Gammage supporter you will love it, for you Bell folks y'all will have to admit it is a nicely served up bit of political advertising!
