My 254-county campaign & traveling this week with Maria Luisa and Valinda
Edited on Mon May-22-06 04:03 PM by David Van Os
Let me tell you a little bit about my 254-county campaign and where it will be this week. In this campaign my steering committee and I believe in taking back Texas by taking it to the people. We say “NO” to the consultantocracy and their exclusionary attitudes toward the noble political processes of democracy. We say that every county and every voter count in the great state of Texas.

Thus in the spirit of Harry Truman’s whistlestop tour, I am going to every county in Texas and speaking publicly in every county seat. What I say in my speeches is not scripted, positioned, manicured, or coiffured. My only allegiance is to the truth, and I believe that a political candidate owes it to his fellow citizens to call it exactly the way he sees it.

If the tour has not been scheduled for your county yet, have no fear, it will be there. Before this campaign is over, I will definitely be coming to your county courthouse (except where local conditions such as remodeling require a different public venue). But you don’t have to wait for the tour to come to your county – you can go to a nearby county to meet it any time.

This week on May 23 and 24 I am especially proud to be part of a three-candidate tour that includes my two Democratic ticketmates Maria Luisa Alvarado, Democratic nominee for Lieutenant Governor, and Valinda Hathcox, Democratic nominee for Land Commissioner. Maria Luisa, Valinda and I will be speaking publicly on Tuesday May 23 and Wednesday May 24 as follows:

TUESDAY MAY 23
8:30 AM WILSON COUNTY COURTHOUSE, FLORESVILLE
10:00 AM KARNES COUNTY COURTHOUSE, KARNES CITY
12:30 PM McMULLEN COUNTY COURTHOUSE, TILDEN
2:45 PM LIVE OAK COUNTY COURTHOUSE, GEORGE WEST
4:15 PM BEEVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY, BEEVILLE (courthouse under renovation), BEE COUNTY
6:00 PM THE GREEN DOOR RESTAURANT, BEEVILLE (open to public)

WEDNESDAY MAY 24
9:00 AM GOLIAD COUNTY COURTHOUSE, GOLIAD
10:30 AM DEWITT COUNTY COURTHOUSE, CUERO
12:15 PM LAVACA COUNTY COURTHOUSE, HALLETTSVILLE
2:45 PM GONZALES COUNTY COURTHOUSE, GONZALES
4:15 PM GUADALUPE COUNTY COURTHOUSE, SEGUIN

1. I met Valinda this past weekend...
heard her speak. She was good. And I like her reasons for running which boil down to "where's the money going" and redistricting (who knew the Land Commissioner had a seat on the redistricting board).

And she and I are fellow alumni of East Texas State University (which I STILL refuse to call Texas A&M at Commerce :eyes: )
