It's official! The Texas Truth Convention, September 2nd, 20004

Texas Dems are tired of being given up on by the DNC. Most recently they called the state chair in Austin and offered him $5,000 to spend on any campaigns in Texas but in addition they wanted him to offer up eight paid staffers to send to other "battleground" states!

So the Morris Meyer campaign decided enough is enough. We are going to take this state back with or without the DNC. Even if Bush wins Texas all the Republicans running for Congress don't have to.
So on September 2nd while Bush is having his acceptance fun fest the Texas Dems are going to have our own response.

It is going to be at the Arlington Convention center from 5:30 to 11:30pm. Volunteers are needed for everything.

Please start planning to attend and bring all your friends. We want to fill the hall and show Bush and the nation, Texas doesn't belong to the Republicans anymore! DeLay has got to go, Joe Barton has got to go, Kenny Marchant doesn't get to go and the list goes on and on!!!

Committee meetings are Monday August 23rd @ 630pm @ Carpenter's Hall @3206 Pleasant Valley Lane in Arlington.

They're trying to get an idea for how many will be attending, goal of course is to try and fill the hall with at least 5000. If we can get 3,000 to Crawford, TX to view F9/11 in only five days, surely we can get 5,000 with a couple of weeks notice and promotion.

the 23rd as have a local D club meeting.... 30th still a poss, as is just showing up and doing whatever necessary!

most of the Austin DUers will likely be at one of the local house parties that night. The Travis County Democratic Party is trying to have 150 house parties county-wide that night - it's the night shrub accepts the rethug nomination and we're gonna use it to raise money. Gonna watch a dvd of shrub's greatest blunders and then watch his nomination acceptance speech and heckle. :)

Texas. I just wish we Texans could get the message out, we don't want him "home" in Texas. Get out and go home to where you and your family truly belong, the East Coast (hell would be preferable, but too much to hope for!).

I was there and I believe this event has the potential to be something big. I'd like to know if anyone else that may have been there thinks the same.

Send this info out far and wide and show up. Austin, San Antonio, Houston are all showing up for rally's. We need to let the country know that Texas really does not love Bush!




Senator John Kerry seems to be on the right of Bush on the occupation of Iraq. He wants to increase troop numbers in Iraq and continue the policy of US hegemony in the Middle East.

A strong Anti War and Anti Patriot Act message will be heard at the Texas Truth Convention in Arlington, Texas. Hosted by the Morris Meyer, Democrat for US Congress Campaign, the event will coincide with President Bush's acceptance speech at the GOP Convention.

Please add your voice to say a resounding "Texas Says No" to the Bush Administration's agenda of war, war profiteering, tax cuts for the rich, rape of the environment and assault on the Bill of Rights.

Thursday, September 2, 5:30-11:00 p.m. Texas Truth Convention

On September 2, while Bush is having his acceptance fun fest in New York City, many peace activists and other Texans are going to have their own response called the “Texas Truth Convention.” The organizers of this shindig have invited the Dallas Peace Center’s End the Occupation of Iraq Committee to be involved. They have indicated that they appreciate our concerns, have offered us a hospitality room, and are looking forward to the peace community having a large presence. Texas activists were directly responsible for many of the peace and justice planks on the national Democratic platform. Our influence doesn't need to end there. Lets show muscle with our numbers and enthusiasm at this Texas Truth convention. The event will be at the Arlington Convention Center, 1200 Ballpark Way, Arlington.
