Chet Edwards signs sprung up in my neighborhood
It was so heartening to drive through my neighborhood and see a brand new crop of Chet Edwards signs on the lawns of Woodway, a suburb of Waco.

But, then, I saw "Palin Power" shoe-polished on the back window of a mini van. How stupid are people?

1. Is that a rhetorical question?
The part about "How stupid are people"? This is Texas hon. Our state voted for the chief idiot in charge 4 times, twice as governor and twice as president. There are lots of stupid people in Texas, unfortunately.

Maybe you can counter with one of your own Palinisms. That would probably not freak them out, since maybe some of them think she's just speaking in tongues anyway.

But I'm happy to hear your report that Chet Edwards signs are cropping up.

:hi:

2. Chet is pretty popular around here
He is close enough to being a republican that a lot of people don't notice that he is on the Democratic ticket.

You will find that about 2/3 of the people in your neighborhood will vote for McSame while about 1/2 will also vote for Chet.

I was at the HEB in your neighborhood the other day wearing a "Worst President EVER" t-shirt. I didn't even get in the door before a woman started an argument with me and chased me down the aisle telling me how scary Obama is.

There are only two signs on my street. My Obama sign and my neighbor's McCain/Palin sign. I've been expecting my sign to get stolen any night now, but it is still there.

3. Way to stand up cosmik!
How did you handle the crazed woman following you around in the grocery store?

I hope your sign stays up through November. The mere fact that it has lasted for even a day in your neck of the woods is a good sign isn't it?

:hi:

4. The conversation went something like this.
She saw my shirt and remarked that there were worse presidents and I responded that no other president had wrecked our economy and started a useless war in the same administration.

So she changed the subject by remarking that she really liked that Palin woman. I put on my best "shocked and appalled" look and said "She is a right wing extremist nut case that makes George Wallace look like a moderate." (this woman was old enough to remember Wallace and probably voted for him)

That's when she went into the "not enough experience" meme and I countered with the Kennedy Missile Crisis.

She responded with "But Obama is just scary, he scares me. I think he's really a Muslim"

That's where I got mean and replied "You probably ought to be scared. The Black Muslims are taking over America and you can't stop them!" Then I showed her my back as I walked away. I continued walking until I could no longer hear her voice.

I don't know what it is like in the rest of the world, but in my part of the world, the "He scares me." meme is short hand for "He's Black!" Baiting racists has been a hobby of mine for years and I love it! It certainly worked this time as she followed me about 20 yards saying stuff that I couldn't understand.

It was also mildly amusing that her husband was standing about 10 feet away watching and grinning as she exploded. I'll bet he caught hell for the rest of the day.

"He scares me." meme is short hand for "He's Black!"

Yes baby, this is still the south. What are they going to do on November 5th?

We have to drag this backasswards south kicking and screaming into the 21st century. Obama is going to be the best president evah!

6. There's a Six Pack Joe kinda house on Sharron
They had a yard sale a couple of weeks ago -- all of their futniture was out on the lawn, looked like someone had been evicted. About a third of it is still there (and yes, it rained all day yesterday). Two McCain/Palin signs. Every time I drive by I want to take a photo of this -- this is what Six Pack Joe's house looks like (and is that code for "poor white trash"?). I have seen a little boy walk home from school to go to the house and I wonder if he's embarrassed.

I'll be on the lookout for you in your Worst President t-shirt ever at HEB.
