What do they mean? They think it's all right to purge the voters rolls in Texas.

What the hell is going on around here.?????

I went to this web page.

http://www.commoncause.org/site/pp.asp?c=dkLNK1MQIwG&b=4650599

And this is what I found there.

Election Concerns

Some legislators are reviving talk of imposing a stricter voter ID law. The state also has been pressured by the U.S. Department of Justice to purge its voter rolls. How these trends will unfold before the 2008 election is unclear, but voters should check their registration status and bring the proper ID to the polls to avoid problems. In May, the state settled a suit in which it pledged to stop prosecuting campaign volunteers in minority communities who help seniors vote by mail but who forget to sign their names to the ballot envelope.

It's this little clip that got my attention.

The state also has been pressured by the U.S. Department of Justice to purge its voter rolls.

And then their this news articles at this DU link.

First Ohio. Now Texas.

But if you go here.

It's web page by The S.O.S.

http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/index.shtml

There is a place to see if you registered to vote.

Check and see if the have deleted you name off the voters list.

It's locked down.

They have cut off access to the public voter record.

Say. Isn't that the same thing they did in Ohio. Late in the day Friday.

Sure it is.

The fix is on for Texas.

What do you mean they have purged 13 million voters???????

What ever happen to the 90 day rule that states that it's illegal to purge names after the 90 days before election deadline has come.

And gone.

They are Felons.

And no body's doing any thing about this?????

Some thing is very very wrong with America.

Vote Early. Vote Now. Not later. Now!

I would run like hell to the polls. If I was you.

1. It worked for me, but it's glitchy
The first time I selected the radio button for a name search and hit "Next," it went back to the same page again. It did what it was supposed to do the second time.

When I neglected to put initial caps on my first and last names (because on my county website case doesn't matter - as a matter of fact, as soon as you hit "Next" there, it converts your name into all upper case), it just went back to the same page with the text boxes blanked out - no indication for "no match found" or anything. I just looked like it was ignoring me.

When I put in my name with initial caps, it found me.

Based on the above experience, I can understand why you thought it was shut down. I'd probably have thought the same thing if I hadn't seen your post and gone there determined to make it work if at all possible.
