2. Texas Wildflower Seeds are sown in the fall.
If you buy Bluebonnet seeds, make sure they are scarified (roughing up the surface) or you'll either have to do it yourself or expect low germination rates.

You can order them from Native American Seeds at http://www.seedsource.com/catalog/index.asp?referer=wildflower.

This is the company recommended by the Lady Bird Johnson National Wildflower Center.

Enjoy the Bluebonnets blooming now, and plan your patch of wildflowers to be planted in October.

5. I'm so homesick!
Miss bluebonnets!

I finally got to the garden center today to begin the year's herb pots and such (it's still going to be in the 40s this weekend, although it's sunnier and hasn't snowed since last weekend!)

It's about this time that I REALLY miss my beautiful Texas garden. But I know in July I won't be missing the heat, so I'm just trying to bloom where I'm planted.

:-)

my husband has quite the green thumb, and knows how to scarify seeds before planting. And I will certainly be browsing the weblinks you all sent, thank you very much!
