1. Don't know
But Red Oak is home to one of the larger KKK segments here in Texas, so it really is not a norm to consider.

2. red oak
White Oak, Lone Oak, what's the difference? I presume the decisions were made by the school boards, and I know of no school board in Texas with a lick o' sense. There's a lot of all-white school districts though.

Red Oak is 5% "African-American" - and that is not a guess. (Census data is easily located.)

It used to be rural.....has housing expansion all around like most far outlying suburbia.
It's right on 35 and traffic really sux now. BAD.

Not surprising, really.

4. Central Texas area districts will let teachers decide
AAS 9/3/09
Austin-area schools say they will let teachers decide whether to use the president's speech in class.

(snip)
Lake Travis school district spokesman Marco Alvarado said schools may show the speech in one common location. But, he said, the district will not "suggest, encourage or require" the speech to be shown or made part of lesson plans.

Round Rock officials said they are "treating this like any other national news event, such as an election or shuttle launch, and allowing individual teachers to determine if their class will view the speech, if it aligns to the curriculum and is timely."

Austin officials said the "district believes such speeches by any sitting president are worthy of Americans' time, attention and consideration. Thus, teachers who believe that a viewing of the president's remarks are in alignment with their classroom instruction ... will allow their students to take advantage of the opportunity afforded them through this address."

5. Basically the same in Houston.
HISD is leaving it up to administrators and teachers.

6. Here is the heathenish communist muslim terrorist speech in whole:
http://www.whitehouse.gov/MediaResources/PreparedSchoolRemarks/

Just one snippet ought to show how dangerous this really is for young minds:

I know that sometimes, you get the sense from TV that you can be rich and successful without any hard work -- that your ticket to success is through rapping or basketball or being a reality TV star, when chances are, you’re not going to be any of those things.
But the truth is, being successful is hard. You won’t love every subject you study. You won’t click with every teacher. Not every homework assignment will seem completely relevant to your life right this minute. And you won’t necessarily succeed at everything the first time you try.

MY GOD! Can you imagine the nerve saying that success may take work!!! This is definitely why this should be banned anywhere and everywehre - I had to take a shower right after reading it myself! No child should be subjected to this!!!

Do I need the sarcasm tag? If so, schools in Texas are worse than I thought....
