He came out in a front page story, in the Austin American Statesman and slammed the Democratic party and Charles Soechting for spreading these vicious rumors. His denial itself got the story more play. The one thing that was pretty much agreed on, is that perry has enemies in both parties. This alleged rumor would not have gotten anywhere, if not for repukes helping spread it. Many point fingers at one tough grandma Carole Strayhorn. perry supposedly finally addressed it, because it was getting out to his conservative base and they believed it too. I think the statesman article is in their archives and you'd have to pay money to call it up.
