Waco Tribune 2/5/10Another tax lien filed against Waco state Rep. AndersonAbout a month after filing a $58,000 tax lien against state Rep. Charles "Doc" Anderson, R-Waco, for unpaid personal income taxes, the Internal Revenue Service took further action against the veterinarian for failing to pay taxes withheld from employees’ paychecks for the final two quarters of 2008.
The lien was filed at the McLennan County Clerk’s office Jan. 25 and totaled about $11,500. It was placed against the Anderson Veterinary Hospital, the clinic Anderson opened on Valley Mills Drive in 1983.

The news, however, prompted McLennan County Democratic Party Chairman John Cullar to call for Anderson’s resignation.
In a press release, Cullar referred to Anderson’s history with the IRS, which has filed liens as a result of unpaid personal income taxes and payroll taxes before and after he took office in 2005.
"Those who defend Doc say he can’t pay his taxes because he’s too busy working for us in the Legislature and isn’t working enough in his veterinary clinic," he said. "But not only has Doc not paid his taxes while in office, he didn’t pay his taxes before he was elected, so that dog won’t hunt."

John Mabry, a Waco Democrat challenging Anderson in November for his seat, referred to public records that show Anderson failed to pay taxes for six years going back to 1998.
"One time is maybe an accident," Mabry said. "Twice might be a coincidence. But six times is a lifestyle and a pattern that proves he’s either too incompetent or too careless to manage his own affairs or our affairs as a representative in the state House."
Really Doc - that dog won’t hunt! And you as a veterinarian should know better.
