Anyone have Sirius radio?
Thinking about getting it, but I've heard there are some problems with reception. Does anyone have Sirius? If so, what has your experience been with it? Do you have problems getting reception in your house?

Any information you could pass my way would be fantastic.

1. I've had it for a few weeks
and it's almost perfect. No reception problems (both with the satellite and the terrestrial reception). I was surprised to learn that if you live in a big city you can bypass the satellite completely. I just slapped the antenna on the window sill and haven't had to touch it since.

Of course the programming is just amazing. AAR is on all day in my house. I never get a lost stream or have the rebuffering issues I was previously used to. :)

2. I have had Sirius Radio......
:hi:
I have used it under all kinds of Terrains such as mountains. It usually works very well and I don't have much complaints. I did cut out once under a very severe rain but that doesn't happen often. It also cuts out when you go under bridges and tunnels, but that is to be expected. The music channels are not "commercial free" because they do have Sirius Ads between the music so its more like 98% commercial free. Over all I am happy and I still subscribe to their service. Now they have AAR radio and I listen to it quite often. If you are doing the install yourself like I did, I would advise you to try and hide the receiver box on roof of your trunk (not the door but the inside of vehicle).

4. got mine saturday at best buy
there's a deal where if you buy the car & home kits together, you get a $50 rebate....deal ends 5/1.

also ending 5/1 I believe is the pre-pay for 1 yr, get 15 months subscription.

i love my sirius radio. due to the fact that my house needs rewiring, i can only listen to it in the car & computer room right now. :)

have had some problems w/reception, but all i've had to do is move the antenna around to get the signal back.

now i'm not held hostage by clear channel!! :)

5. Had both - Sirius excels
I had also heard that Sirius's reception was worse, but not true on my part. I had an XM skyfi pnp and now the Sirius audiovox pnp, the sirius has more features but is easier to use. The talk lineup is where Sirius really outshines XM, more talk in general and much more liberal talk.

here's some helpful sites:

6. That follows
About why Sirius has more liberal talk radio programming. XM Satellite has a fairly significant investment by Clear Channel.

7. that' another reason
NOT to buy XM!!! i know it's david v. goliath at this point, but any time i can take $$ away from clear channel, i will. heh heh heh

the guys at best buy were absolutely ga-ga over the music choices on sirius v. xm......for me, whatever. i got it for air america.

i was, however, ecstatic to find they have a channel devoted to classic radio oldies, ch. 133. :)

8. Also of note..
if your a Sirius subscriber you can listen to the online stream.
Say you buy a Sirius car stereo setup, you could still listen anytime you are near a computer/
